About the Author

Jasper Becker lived in and reported from Beijing for eighteen years. A Mandarin-speaker, he has written on China for The Guardian, Economist and Spectator, and authored ten books, including Hungry Ghosts: Mao s Secret Famine; and Made in China: Wuhan, Covid and the Quest for Biotech Supremacy (also published by Hurst).
